UniPrint is a Portable Document Format (PDF) compatible
printer driver. When a client prints using the
UniPrint printer driver, a PDF document is created
and sent to the UniPrint client. The UniPrint
client can be configured to automatically print, preview,
email, or save the PDF document.
Because the PDF
format is truly portable, users can print any
document rendered by UniPrint to any defined printer.
UniPrint
supports Server based computing (SbC) printing from managed
PC workstations and requires the UniPrint Client to
be installed on these workstations.
Our Gateway module
provides all of the features of UniPrint plus
support for printing from thin-client devices. Typically thin-clients
connecting to server-based sessions lack locally installed print
drivers. As a result, terminal servers require multiple
network printers to be installed, which can greatly
impact server stability.
If you are using the
Gateway module together with UniPrint, the PDF documents
are sent to a UniPrint Print Server, which
manages printing requests on behalf of the user.
If required, multiple UniPrint print servers can be
deployed in remote locations.
Web Module is our
latest add-on product to the UniPrint Gateway solution.
UniPrint Gateway provides a stable efficient printing solution
for Server-based Computing users working from thin-clients and
managed workstations. Web Module extends the functionality of
UniPrint Gateway to web-enabled PDAs and WAP devices
by allowing users to centrally manage their print
jobs over the Web.
By centralizing print jobs,
roaming users are able to pick-up print jobs
without connecting to the corporate LAN. Printing decisions
can be made when the time and printing
environment is right for the user. Administrators can
control the length of time documents remain available
on the server.
