To send HL7 messages over TCP/IP you need what's known as an HL7 Router. An HL7 Router application sends HL7 messages to an HL7 Listener Application.
In the UltraPort product line we have the outstanding UltraPort HL7 Router as well as the UltraPort HL7 Listener (for sending HL7 messages). These lightweight, but robust MS Windows Service applications install and configure in minutes and have an intuitive, easy to use interface. With the UltraPort HL7 Listener you can be transmitting HL7 data over TCP/IP within just a few minutes after installation!
How does it work? The UltraPort Router will monitor a folder on your computer/server. When new HL7 data files are detected (files can contain 1 or many messages) the router will extract all HL7 messages and transmit them to a waiting HL7 Listener Application using the specific TCP/IP address and port number designated by you. If necessary it will then wait for an appropriate HL7 Acknowledgement and (if desired) write that acknowledgement out to the file system. In short, we handle all of the outbound TCP/IP overhead for you!
Features include:
- Easy to configure using the listener configuration utility. Be up and running minutes after installation.Click HERE for more info!
- NEW Feature can be run 2
ways.
- Run as a system service* (no logon required) so it can be set to start automatically when the machine boots.
- Run as a windows desktop application (great for troubleshooting) with a handy runtime window so you can watch your HL7 messages stream in. - NEW Feature For software developers using Microsoft Visual Studio .Net (2005-2010) we provide a FREE .Net object DLL which allows you to interface directly with the UltraPort HL7 Router profiles. Basically allowing you (in about 10 lines of code) to make the UltraPort Router a Proxy server to which your application sends HL7 messages and it then forwards on to their final destination! No TCP/IP socket programming knowledge needed, it's really that easy! Click HERE for more information.
- NEW Product Comes with our one-of-a-kind UltraPort HL7 Service monitor, that is freely redistributable across your network. This application allows you to 'monitor' UltraPort Listener and Router software in real-time from a local (or remote) workstation, can even be done from home with a VPN or secure internet connection. Verify that the service is up and running, see how many messages have been sent/received accepted/rejected, etc.
- Automatically generate (if needed) a unique HL7 message control ID (MSH 10.1)!
- User-definable start and end message transmission characters (for non-standard trading partners)
