An OST file is a replica of your Exchange mailbox that is locally stored on your hard drive. The OST file helps you to speed up work on your Exchange mailbox while you are logged on to the server. The OST file is a component of your exchange server account and is not usable with Microsoft Outlook mail client.
In the event of an email server crash or when a mailbox account is deleted at the server, Offline Storage Files (.OST) remains on user’s computer. Phoenix OST File Recovery Tool recovers folders, messages (including those with file attachments) and all embedded information to a usable .PST file.
