Add-on. The Berlin Streetcar in the Golden Twenties -The follow up to the Berlin Subway is the second Add-on developed by TML-Studios for the Microsoft Train Simulator. Again the graphics engine has been optimised for an even better performance and display. The route recreated on the basis of historical documents and photos picks up the typical Berlin flair of the late twenties and early thirties in a most beautiful and authentic fashion. From the past right until today the streetcar or tram, whatever you prefer, has been one of the most important urban transport systems. The light-rail system of Berlin has at that time been one of the largest in the world. As the Berliner Verkehrsgesellschaft BVG was founded in 1929, 4 new routes were introduced making the rail system grow to 93 light-rail lines with a total length of 600 km. The Tram transport ran 170 million KM a year and in the year 1929, 929 million passengers were transported. On the one hand it was a necessary means of transport for people to get one place to another fast, on the other hand it was also en vogue to use a technical masterpiece of that time. This Add-on is placed in the twenties of the last century. Line 51 runs from the streetcar depot Niederschönhausen to the heart of Berlins city the Kupfergraben at the Museumsinsel. Historic documents and photographic material has allowed to build an authentic simulation of this route with all its features and the special atmosphere of this time. The optimised lighting system is now able to create various lighting situations in superb quality. Reflections on glass and metal surfaces make this simulation come to life. The route offers the typical contrasts of a city, the town villas, churches and parks which invite you for a stroll as well as the pompous Museumsinsel with its mighty architecture.
