Since our software does not use a client on the remote computers targeted, you enjoy the benefit of no client licensing. This means that only the administrators using the utility to manage remote systems need a license. For example: There are 2,000 systems to which you want to distribute a software package. There are 2 administrators dedicated to accomplishing this task. When purchasing our software you would buy 2 licenses, not 2,000!
Requirements for Remote Software Deployment?
eploying software remotely with the Remote Software Installation Utility is easy whether a novice or a seasoned deployment professional.
- .NET 2.0 on the administrators system running the RSI Utility. (This is not necessary on the remote systems)
- Administrative privileges on the target systems.
- WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) enabled on the target systems. (Default, but sometimes the Windows Firewall can close the ports. See here for info on opening.)
- A single file install package that runs unattended or silent. Most MSI's will run silently with a /qn command line option; EXE's vary greatly however. Thankfully AppDeploy.com is a great resource for commonly deployed packages and the silent options needed.
